Our scholarship program reflects the Emmanuel commitment to inclusion and diversity, by breaking down financial barriers and creating opportunities for students across Warrnambool and the wider region.
The demand to attend Emmanuel College continues to grow as shown at our 2025 Open Evening where we experienced record attendance, and equally strong interest in the Scholarships we offer.
At this time of year whilst you are considering your charity donations, we are keen for you to consider the Emmanuel Scholarship Fund as a place where your contribution will be truly valued.
Will you help us raise $150,000 towards our Scholarship Fund this year. You can make a significant difference for families experiencing hardship, and live our values of love, hope and faith by supporting a student.
Hear from Foundation Chair, Maree Lane about this years 2025 Scholarship Appeal and how your donation to the fund will be truly valued.
Glenys Phillpot OAM joined the Emmanuel College Warrnambool Foundation board 3 years ago as we reinvigorated our approach to raising the necessary funds for the College to grow our Scholarship Fund and to enhance our ability to construct contemporary educational spaces for our students.
Glenys was a Warrnambool City Councillor for thirteen years, including four terms as Mayor. She was Chair of the Art Gallery Advisory Committee and served as a member of the Deakin University Council for four years. Glenys is a Director of Peters Project Foundation, Chair of the Lookout Residential Rehabilitation Steering Committee and has been on the Western Region Alcohol and other Drugs (WRAD) Committee of Management since 1999.
Glenys worked in financial planning and superannuation at Sinclair Wilson for 20 years and she and her husband Bill have five children and 12 grandchildren.
With a strong Governance history and a wealth of experience, Glenys has skilfully led the Foundation Board with great enthusiasm, commitment and gentle guidance as we have evolved into a strong organisation with a robust framework and firm foundations.
"What a rewarding experience it has been to be involved with the Emmanuel College Foundation for the past three years!
In that time the skilled and enthusiastic Foundation team has worked hard to gather from the school and the broader community, funds to assist with the Edmund Rice Centre build, provide so many scholarships to support young people to achieve their goals in their education, seen the donated funds grow under the watchful eye of the investment and finance committee, and secured opportunities to assist the school and its students into the future.
Your donation to the Foundation’s 2025 appeal would continue the great effort from previous years, to guarantee Emmanuel College teachings are available to the greatest number who aspire to excellence. Your donation can make a tangible difference, particularly in these difficult economic times".
I am new to the Foundation Chair role, but have been following the Foundation’s progress with keen interest and I am delighted that my fellow Alumni, parents and extended community have so generously supported the Foundation in its endeavours, following in the footsteps of our forebears. Over the last two years, the Foundation has been keenly focused on the appeal for the Edmund Rice Centre with great success.
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of Peter Morgan, the ERC Appeal Committee and the Foundation Board to say a heartfelt thank you to those who have supported this appeal, your contributions are truly valued and helped us raise over $1.1million.
The Year 9 students have moved into their new learning facility at the start of first term, and from what I have witnessed during several visits to the building, they are enjoying the new environment immensely. The space is quite remarkable, and feels calm, with attention to acoustic design that helps minimise distractions and creates a peaceful, focused atmosphere for learning. The layout is spacious, allowing for both individual study and collaborative work. Natural light floods the rooms, enhancing the sense of openness and comfort. The students seem to be thriving in this thoughtful environment.
As this project comes to a close, we return our attention to our Scholarship Fund. Particularly in the current economic environment, it is challenging for many families in our community to consider an Emmanuel education for their child.
If you have any questions about the Emmanuel College Scholarship program, or the impact you can make, please contact Alison Byrne, Foundation Executive Officer, on 0488 254 007 or [email protected].
I am very proud of what the Foundation has achieved since its inception, securely managing your contributions, allocating these gifts to the area that is important to you and building the corpus to ensure ongoing support for our students.
I invite you, our Emmanuel community to continue what has been started and join us in supporting our Scholarship Fund which will provide many opportunities to so many students.
Kind regards,
Maree Lane | Chair, Emmanuel College Foundation
