Missing out on their opportunity to have a milestone reunion in 2020, the CBC Class of 1970 decided to recreate the opportunity. So in April this year, we welcomed them back and very much enjoyed the company and stories they had to share. Given the low-key nature of the event, it was a real treat to see so many of them turn up to reconnect.
On arrival, there were plenty of re-introductions among the boys, with many of them being recognised more often by their nicknames. Organisers Rick Tipping and Pat Delaney said a few words prior to the tour kicking off, and fondly remembered the names of their fellow class mates who had passed away.
As we wandered around campus, the boys were quick to point out the “new” buildings on site, however it was the familiar buildings that really got the boys talking. Stories of Br Hehir and his dog were recalled, along with the introduction of girls on campus, boxing, and many other classroom antics. A number of the boys also proudly shared their parents involvement in the fundraising for and the building of the Chapel.
