Classes of 1986 - 30 Year Reunion

During the tour we loved just talking about what we remember at the school, the mischief we got up to, the friends that we remember. Much has changed, but much looked the same!
I talked a lot to people that I didn’t have much to do with at school and that was really nice!

The Classes of 1986 was a coming together of the St Ann’s girls and the CBC boys on October 15, with not only people flying in from all over the country, but also one coming all the way from Rome! The girls started their reunion plans with a cheeky champagne on the lawn before taking a tour of the school, while the boys’ mapped out the famous incidents of their old stomping ground. Cheryl-Ann Hawkins (d’Andrea) and Jenny Callaghan (Mugavin) created a great casual atmosphere at the Cally Hotel to reconnect and celebrate after 30 years. Since the night, Cheryl-Ann has received lots and lots of positive feedback, with many people already looking forward to the next one!

There were a few who were reluctant to come, but did, and said how great the night was and how friendly and casual the evening was..

Cheryl-Ann would like to thank...

  • St Ann’s Captain, Roseanne Moloney who posted a great video on the group’s Facebook page - “It was special!!!” Members of the Class of 1986 can join the Facebook group to view this. Contact Cheryl-Ann or myself to be added.
  • Jenny and Steve Callaghan for helping to organise and get everyone together
  • Teachers Mrs Linda Bell and Mrs Teresa Stapleton for coming along
  • Bernadette Clarke (Kavanagh) for putting the music list together
  • Jenny Fitzgerald and Anne Waters (Starkie) who helped with spreading the word
  • And to all those who sent in some photos
Everyone stayed right to the end and really enjoyed each other’s company

Class of 1996 - 20 Year Reunion

There was a real positive attitude and energy in the room. Everyone was appreciative of the opportunity to reconnect with ‘old’ but familiar faces
We enjoyed remembering and venturing inside past classrooms especially the Year 7 and Year 9 homerooms

The Class of 1996, proudly reunited for a 20 year celebration affirming the legacy the group started as the very first Year 7 group to commence their schooling at what was the new Emmanuel College in 1991. As the first of a generation of students to start and finish at Emmanuel College, John Houlihan and the Class of 1996 celebrated in their own style at a very casual event at the Lady Bay resort on November 19.

Facilities are state of the art including the newly commissioned Emmanuel Centre and the renovated old convent. At the same time it is nice to realise that the Emmanuel College Class of 1991 – 1996 is still present both in a physical and spiritual sense.

On the night the group appreciated and thank...

  • John Houlihan, who made a great speech, acknowledged the legacy the Class of 1996 built as the first cohort of Emmanuel College 1991 – 1996 and recognised those alumni who were present who also had their own children graduate the previous evening with the Class of 2016.
  • Matthew Bushell who got the ball rolling for the reunion by setting up the original Facebook group
  • Former Teachers - Carlyn and Ron Sproston, and Jan Bray who attended
  • Candice Hampstead (Alumni Coordinator) who facilitated the reunion tour, class lists and invitations
  • Brigid McKinnon for providing live music for the evening - great hits from the 90s!
  • Class of 1996 for their attendance - especially those who made arrangements to travel to Warrnambool for the weekend to attend the reunion
Our 10 year reunion was more about reminiscing whilst the 20 year reunion felt more of a reconnecting or being present together as a community.

Class of 2006 - 10 Year Reunion

Definitely a great night had by all. Nearly everyone continued on at the pubs together afterwards till the early hours.
The Class of 2006 couldn’t believe how much their school had changed in only 10 years! With the biggest changes being the music department and the Emmanuel Centre! “In 2006 we had music, but not to the standard that it is today. And of course the new Emmanuel Centre, it’s so great - the only thing missing is a swimming pool!!

The Class of 2006 kicked off their shoes for their 10-year reunion on November 19. Ellie McDonald and Laura Thornton (Salzmann) rounded up the group for a bowls session and gourmet barbecue dinner at the Warrnambool Bowls Club. Since the night, the girls have received a number of messages of congratulations and thanks.

Everyone enjoyed the bowling, lots of laughing and only one injury! But overall, we were really hopeless. Our instructors seemed fairly disappointed with our ability. So we didn’t keep score – there was no point!

Ellie & Laura wanted to thank...

  • Sam Inverarity who surprised everyone by making an impromptu speech on the night. He thanked organisers Ellie and Laura for all the work they did, observed the memory of Shae and Luke and generally commented on what a great group the Class of 2006 is! (They were particularly entertained by Sam putting his Primary School teaching skills into action to get the group’s attention!)
  • Elyse Warhurst (Lanchester) who spent hours pulling photos together for the display, even though she couldn’t go.
  • School Captain, Hannah Finnigan, was going to come and do the speeches, but unfortunately couldn’t come in the end. She also helped with spreading the word in the lead up and encouraging others to come.
Towards the end of the tour, Mr Barling asked Laura Uebergang – “Did I teach you psychology?” Laura replied “Yes, now I’m a psychologist!
