About Matthew Hewson

Matt Hewson is a professional musician and music educator. Matt has taught music in the South West region for over a decade at primary and secondary levels, and he specialises in jazz/rock theory, woodwinds, and bass guitar.


Matt has performed at venues and festivals across Australia, as well as on national television and radio. He has shared the stage with international and national luminaries such as Billy Cobham, Jim Murray, Shane Howard, Paul Williamson, and Ronny Ferella, and has supported acts such as No Doubt, Men At Work, Hoodoo Gurus, Taxi Ride, and the Living End. He has featured on numerous albums as a sideman, and his 2011 jazz album was selected by ABC DIG Jazz Radio as a national feature album in October that year.


Matt is a passionate and dedicated teacher and performer. He currently teaches bass guitar and saxophone at Emmanuel College and Warrnambool College, as well as privately.
